World tennis superstars have raised $4.8 million for the Australian bushfire appeal as they gathered in Melbourne to compete across a series of friendly charity matches. Legends of the game - including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams - turned out in force at Rod Laver Arena to help raise funds for fire-affected communities across the country. Event organiser, Australian Nick Kyrgios, expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and the public for their generosity. Rafael Nadal took time out from the night's proceedings to announce he and Swiss star Roger Federer had personally donated $250,000. Victorian firefighter Deb Borg took to centre court to live out her dream of playing alongside Nadal. Thirty volunteer firefighters received the loudest cheer of the evening with the 1,500 strong crowd honouring the group with a standing ovation.
